Last fall, Berkeley City Councilmember Rigel Robinson joined a LWVBAE internship program meeting to share his experiences representing Berkeley District 7 and his legislative areas of focus. Councilmember Robinson was first elected right after graduating from UC Berkeley, where he held numerous leadership positions serving UC Berkeley students, advocating for an increase in student housing, lower tuition and more. In his presentation, Councilmember Robinson talked about addressing the city’s housing crisis through policies relating to RVs and affordable housing. He also said he promotes environmentally sustainable legislation, such as prohibiting natural gas use in new homes and disposable cutlery and cups in restaurants.
