Hector Chinchilla will give a talk, 7:30-9 PM, on Monday, November 11th. Our featured speaker will be Hector Chinchilla, who works in public information for the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans).
Born in Oakland California he lived in Central American during his childhood and returned to the Bay Area during his teenage years where he attended schools in Oakland, Berkeley and Albany. Hector graduated from Saint Mary’s College in CA, where he received a bachelor’s in communications.
After graduating Hector worked for various nonprofits and government agencies. His passion lies in being “a translator” not just for his community but all who seek information and transparency. For this topic, Hector would like to share his experiences navigating this world and how environmental issues and teaching helped shaped his career and perspective, including on equity issues.
He will provide examples of past, current and future transportation projects from a perspective we rarely hear about.
