Voter Registration Volunteers Needed!
The League of Women Voters of Berkeley, Albany, Emeryville has been partnering with Berkeley High School’s Vote16 group throughout February and March to pre-register and register Berkeley High Schools students to vote. Together we have registered over 300 students to vote! We have visited classrooms, tabled at events, and presented at assemblies. The League has pushed especially hard to prepare 16-17 year olds with the hope that they will be able to vote for the Berkeley Unified School Board in the November election. Although the voters changed the city charter at the last election, the Alameda County Registrar of Voters is still waiting to hear back from the Secretary of State, about how the voting will be carried out. This is the link to sign-up to register students to vote. Come to March 28th BUSD Board Meeting: Support students voting for school board dirrectors by joining the League at the next Berkeley Unified School District school board meeting on Wednesday, March 28th at 7:30pm. The Vote16 students will be presenting their work to the board. We want to show our support for these remarkable students. These students embody the spirit of the League, and they are engaged and making a difference. Voter Service Director and Team leaders and members needed: We need a Voter Services Director and one or more volunteers to organize voter registration campaigns at other high schools. If you are interested in assisting us with our high school voter registration drives, please email president@lwvbae.org. This is the link to sign-up to register students to vote.
