Encouraged by the recently released LWV California petition from President Helen Hutchison to urge legislators and the governor to move the Prop. 13 Reform Bill forward, the Civics Ed/Prop. 13 Reform Team will be meeting Saturday, July 15, from 10 am to noon at the League Office to plan two efforts.

The first effort will involve educational outreach at the Berkeley Farmers’ Market on select Saturdays to raise awareness of and interest in supporting Prop. 13 Reform. The second effort will involve Voter Registration of Berkeley High School students at the Berkeley High Orientations for returning seniors on Aug. 21 and juniors on Aug. 22, as the Civics Ed Team did for the first time last year. It’s critical to get the word out on Prop. 13 Reform when California needs the $9 billion in revenue this measure would yield – and by obtaining it in a FAIR way!
